Rizzoli & Isles (2010-?)

soooo lost in series at the moment... maybe a way to keep my mind of the fact that i have to wait until the 19. for the next Castle episode... dang waiting time.. :(

Anyway doing some random searching on the big web i kinda fell over this series. As I have come to understand there's a lot of shipping going on about the 2 lead characters. Being all new to that term.. maybe I'm not a movie geek more a movie nerd since I don't really go into that kinda stuff.. though I can imagine why some people like to think they are a couple.

so this Rizzoli & Isles... what is it about... well it's your basic cop-series. You of cause follow Rizzoli and Isles in case you where doubting that. Detective Jane Rizzoli is a American-Italian chick who kicks ass every now and then. Dr. Maura Isles is an upper class nerd working in the coroner office. They are close friends and work together on different murder cases.

So why watch this cop-series over others? well it's different. It manage to stay interesting without the sexual tension that most hit series feed of. Not to talk bad about the others because I do like those to but I find it that most series try and survive on the sexual tension. That's why it is refreshing to find a series that are based on humor and the odd combination of characters. Jane and Maura is so different in upbringing and ways of thinking that is sometimes painfully funny. Jane being down to earth and very direct and Maura being this brainiac filling everything with complicated knowledge instead of simple answers. They complement each other quite well and yeah sometimes they do kinda act like a married couple.. hm what else to tell... well i find the stories built well. Already in the first episode you get a big chunk of history of the characters.. well mostly Rizzoli's history... getting you hooked on their stories..

so yeah I have very little bad about this series.. I do find it very sad that they don't stick with the ringtone joke from the first episode because it was funny and it would have been cool to keep that later on in the series. Also there was an episode where there was a fault in the solving of a case.. the biology knocked into my head over the years was screaming at me it was that bad.. but if you don't have the same level in biology that I do you wont notice it so i guess it's not that bad again just wrong... goes without saying you should not believe everything you hear....

Camelot (2011)

Okay so I for one have always loved the tales of King Arthur and the knights of the round table, the magical Merlin and so on... which is why I just had to see Camelot (not to mention that Eva Green shows up now and then) Anywho  Camelot is about the happenings after King Uther's death. Merlin locating the unknown heir of Uther and trying to make him king, Morgan fighting this as she believe herself to be the rightful heir to the throne and then all the trouble with pretty girls and their men ;)

I Love this show. I know it is a story told a lot both in movies and in series. I have meet many commentaries toward watching the series Merlin instead of Camelot and even though I watched a few episodes it didn't catch my attention in any way near the way Camelot seemed to. So far the only thing that bums me with Camelot is the fact that there wont be made a season 2. So there will only be the 10 episodes of the first season to look at.
Also speaking only visually Camelot reminds me a lot of Rome... also all the plotting, sex and blood is in both series. Just to make sure this is not a child friendly series. I did tell a friend that I found them similar and he went on to try and watch Rome saying he didn't like it.
well back to Camelot... The thing that I believe to be the reason behind me falling so much more for this tale about Arthur over all the others I've seen so far is the human factor. Yeah it doesn't hurt that i like a few of the actors and actresses a lot but that's not where i'm going... It's the characters human factor. Normally when dealing with this tale you have Arthur and Merlin on the good side and Morgan on the bad. But the characters in Camelot isn't solely good nor bad, but a mix of the 2. You do see Arthur as a savior but also as the man he is driven by passion and sometimes right. Merlin isn't just this mighty man with visions and powers he is as scared as any other man. And Morgan well being kinda evil by upbringing she is not devoid from human feelings. More than once you get to see her worry and fear for others. She is not cold as it has been told often before.. she's just human.
