D.E.B.S. (2004)

since it has been so long since my last post i decided to do one from the shelf..Yes i own this one.. gonna comment on this later on...

D.E.B.S. is a special school for girls learning about well spy stuff... how does the students get picked well... there is this secret test within the aptitude test (sry but have no clue what this test is about in the first place... we don't do them in small DK) anywho if you score well in the test within the test you get contacted... or well drafted might be the word. Anyway we are in this movie following a specific group of 4 D.E..B.S. where one of these is the posterchild for D.E.B.S as she is the perfect score... not that anyone knows exactly what this means... Amy (the posterchild) however is not really into the whole spy stuff and honestly she just wanna go to art school and i don't know be free... and then this evil mastermind shows up in the form of Lucy Diamond (played by Jordana Brewster ) who is really just showing up for a stupid blind date with a Russian assassin, a female russian assassin.... after a failed surveillance mission Lucy and Amy meet and well Lucy is back on the horse and Amy well she reluctantly follows...

This movie is honestly so bad it's good... i love this movie and i know it is very very very wrong.. but come on girls in miniskirts with guns and a super cute villain that isn't really bad... it's super sappy and sweet too.. and it actually have great humor which is probably why i have fallen for it... it is also the first movie i were i knew i was watching Jordana Brewster in... there was a time where i could brag of having watched all her movies but one.. still haven't been around that horror... anywho.... yeah she's my first moviecrush...
well there you have it... one from my shelf of fabulous movies... yeah..

13 going on 30 (2004)

oh how school gets you out of the loop... or well just out of everybody's loop.... must say that movies has rolled over the screen way quickly but with not much memory of them.. does not really matter cause its been mostly my movie shelf that's been on the menu so not only can i watch them all again at some point when desired but also has they been watch a lot already... you know if you like it you buy it and that are the words i live by.. so yeah i love my movies ;)

anywho...13 going on 30... well think this is the girly version of Big with Tom Hanks.. and by that i mean we have our average unpopular teenage girl holding her 13th birthday and after a little thing with mean girls at her party she wishes very deeply to be 30.. and boom we have a 13 year old Jenna waking up in a 30 year old body.. not only that it is more like skipping time so body have lived 17 years with all the weird mistakes and choices that comes with that.. 13 year old Jenna however does not remember anything... making a really awkward morning with a naked man in the apartment and running around town in her negligee. And now to the fun part... finding out what she really wanted so she can go back to being well 13.

overly predictable sappy sweetness check, way to cute Jennifer Garner playing a 13 year old.. check... me totally embracing my girly side.. well double ehm maybe triple check that....

dont think there is that much else to say.. okay i admit it i'm terrible at reviewing chick flicks.. might be because im not that willing to admit that i love watching them buggers.. :) and the thing with chick flicks is they have to be predictable.. it has to be sappy and so sweet you almost gag.. why... well i think it might be a girly need for something romantic that we all know doesn't really exists in the real world.. it is a place to get lost in dreams....

Julie & Julia (2009)

uh lets take one from the shelf... i have been going through a small pet project of getting through my movieshelf.. can tell you that i'm near the first 50 movies... and i'm not even close to being halfway through.. ah it is good to be a moviemuncher...

so why Julie and Julia... well after watching a few action movies and not getting much done I figured that a movie about my subject would help.. thing is i'm in school at the moment and well the homework load is kinda high.. like way high.. like in i have even less social life than i do when i'm working... soo yeah well that would be why it has been a while since the last post.. anyway home work.. movies.. got a red string in this somewhere.. i hope..

Julie & Julia is about well Julie an almost 30 woman who feels stuck and uninspired at work and well only comfort she does have is cooking (i know that feeling)... then the thing happens.. the thing that puts everything in motion. One of Julies friends writes a horrible article and follows up with a blog.. Julie, who is in reality a writer who can't get published, is talking about that she could write a blog on her own... her boyfriend agrees and after a short assessment time they agree that Julie could write about cooking. Julie then decides that in order to actually stick to the blog she has to have a goal.. goal being going through all of the recipes in Julia Childs Cookbook. (which i'm kinda dying to get a hold of) in the course of one year.

so given this is on my shelf and i already clearly stated that i do not buy unless i like.. it would be fair to assume that this is one i love.. and i do..

as an aspiring cook myself (this would be the school part) i love pretty much everything about food.. much like Childs (or at least the portrait of her from the movie) i love the learning process the little tricks you get along the way and of recent even the designing of a plate (which i apparently have a small talent in) so the relations between both Julie and Julia is there for me.. and that it is a big big part of my love toward the movie

also i love the jump between Julie and Julia.. the thing is that both of them goes through a development throughout the movie.. Julie through her project and the small meltdowns along the way.. Julia through the process of first off getting allowed into the cooking courses in the first place (cooking like chefs were dominated by men...women was expected to stay home and look after their husbands and the itty bitty ones) and to starting the cookbook (which needed some reducing along the way) to actually being know and respected in the world of cooking.. and may i just add?... both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are wonderful in this movie.. i do adore and admire both of them to begin with but that does not make this movie anything less..

well let's just end this with the wises words ever to be said...
It is ALL about the Butter!

The Art of Getting By (2011)

oh boy oh boy a real review...

sry for that... it has just been so dang long since i last wrote an actual review and not just random stuff popping up in my head. anywho shall we?

The Art of Getting By.... Well it is about George.. a social awkward teenager on his senior year. George is not big on school, homework or even assignments during class.. actually he is kinda weird with his head in the clouds or well the head is in a book looking over his amazing drawings that almost nobody ever get to see. Due to this lack of interest in school he get to see the principle quite often.. Anyway one day a girl hits up a conversation with him after school.. this girl being Sally.. Sally and George becomes really good friends.. but then as all good dramas go Georges life starts to crumple...

This was SOOOOO sweet...

okay now that i got that out of my system lets go over  the movie.. it is a normal teenage drama flick thing but like more and more of the recent ones of these, i believe it to have a really good story and background theme.. George is feeling this type of rude depressing feeling toward school.. like what does it all matter.. trust me i get this feeling.. it is like that these days we live to slave our way through life, first in school to learn stuff that we later can use to slave away in a job so that we can make money to live for,... he also goes about life like he doesn't have anything to say to the world, kinda like he feels like a parasite that just tag along for the ride.. when he meets Sally or well think it is the other way round... she noticed him, making him become someone that stands out of the crowd for once... and quite early in the movie you get the fact that while most people are scared of dying (this seems to be the normal anyway) he is not scared of that.. he is scared about life.. scared of living it.. and i think that is the true core of this movie.. about not being scared of life.. about a young man that has to learn to live life and to become something, SOMEONE..

so as my earlier statement kinda implied this is a really cute movie.. a really warm one to.. made me feel really good afterwards even though i did hit a bumpy passage here and there (I am NOT crying... that much) and i like that in a movie.. and Freddie Highmore that plays George is just plain adorable..

Oh and I have just come to realize that I am having a movie crush on Emma Roberts so-ehm guess I'm gonna roam around IMDb and figure out what to watch next ;)

A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (2011)

uh one more Cinderella story...

and this time Cinderella wanna be a star... singing her lungs out.. oh and one stepsister has been switched into a brother.. and a annoying one of the kind.. loving step mom is kinda hating on even her own kids.. stepsister has a very bad singing voice and for some reason we decide to do some lip singing in a competition under force but well yeah....

okay so i kinda love music and the humor is a lot better in this one... and demon spawn is so sweet when you look past the trouble he is making XD .. And it is just hilarious that the auditions are hold in the toilet..oh yeah and the bestie of our Cinderella is basically insane.. in a lovely way...

yes i like this one more than the first.. it is like the step siblings are more human in this one... like they don't hate as much... well like not at all.. but the needs just seems to come before family bonds... well for some at least...

A Cinderella Story (2006)

sooo yeah i am gonna put this one in the teen category and yes this is a chick flick like big time..

well A Cinderella Story is just what the title says it is.. Sam is a modern Cinderella living with her stepmom who is well mean and lazy and her 2 stepsisters who are well less bright than most... Sam has meet the prince charming online and is to meet him at the school Halloween dance... and then we just play along with the normal story line of Cinderella.. well..

what do i think of this movie.. what do i think hmmm... well it is modern Cinderella... it is just that.. it is funny and it is girly.. and sweet and well think that is it....

sry for the short one on this.. but it is not really a movie that can have a lot of things said about it... it is a girly movie.. if you like this stuff then knock yourself out if not.. probably best to stay clear of this one..

40 days and 40 nights (2002)

Where are all the manly movies.. seriously it's been all chick flicks so far... :|

anyway 40 days and 40 nights is about this guy Matt who after a lot of encounters with the fairer sex and this feeling of utter emptiness inside decides that it would be a awesome idea to go into celibacy for 40 days straight. And if this is not a pretty much impossible task on its own here we go and ad Erica, the nice hot girl from the laundry mat, that Matt of cause falls in love with...

look i know that age wise this is a little off since it is about post college people meaning adults.. however this one has a special place with me because well i was 15 when this one came out.. and yes i have watched it a lot when i was younger.. it was actually a long time since i last saw it though and there was some scenes i had completely forgotten about. Anywho i do love the theme that it portraits because to me no normal person could ever live in absolute celibacy. People would go insane which Matt actually does in the movie.. not insane insane but insane enough (boy that sounded a little crazy) I even discuss this theme every now and then (i don't discuss that often though) that it is just wrong for the Catholic churches to ask this of their priest and in my opinion this celibacy thing might be at fault for some of the cases surfacing over the years about priest because it is about generally suppressing a huge part of what a human is.. anyway the movie is a great chick flick and it has good humor.. and a lot of cruel people not believing Matt can do this...

100 Girls (2000)

heads up i might be slightly grumpy today... not the movies fault i just had the misjudgment yesterday that i was young and up for drinking until 4 am... i am not :| definitely not.. however i had fun and now that i manged to make myself make breakfast it is going a bit better.. bacon can save anyone.. but i am proberbly gonna end up watching just a few movies today while lying in bed and eating bacon (seriously not trying to make you jelly here...)

so a 100 girls... please don't let the title fool you this is a chick flick.. big one... a lot of half naked girls in it though.. that would be a plus to some..

anywho 100 girls is about this boy Matthew who one night after a party ends up with a girl in an elevator during a blackout... they have according to him the most wonderful sex of his life (also his first i think) but he doesn't know her name or what she looks like either except her breast fit in a champagne glass.. (not making it up really) oh and she leaves him a pair of underwear... now Matthew is a bright kid apparently so he makes up these different maintenance problem so that he can come and fix them day after day leaving him a chance to prior through the girls stuff to find the matching bra... kinda like a Cinderella thing but with underwear.. after a while he befriends a lot of the girls and gains a lot of knowledge on how girls are like

this one has always been a favorite of mine.. think it is the deal with me being closet romantic and... well there is a lot of half naked girls and i just don't mind looking XD.. i do really like the concept of the guy not just trying to find the girl but actually trying to get girls and why there is so much trouble with boys and girls to get along.. so basically i'm saying it is a little deeper than most boy-trying-to-get-the-girl-romantic-chick-flick-thingy....

i have learnt that there should be a follow up called 100 women or Girl Fever.. but never really gotten around to watch it... i might but i have read my share about it to know it is probably gonna disappoint me....

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

This is like the ultimate Teen Chick Flick... i mean.. I even forced my sister to watch this back when we was younger... it i
s a classic and even i know that Heath Ledger is a cutie...

ah the story of the Straford sisters... Kat and Bianca is sisters very different sisters... Kat is outspoken and not really into being nice to anyone.. Bianca on the other hand likes to be the center of attention. So why are we onto their story? well the Straford sisters are not allowed to date.. or well Kat is but she is not really into that stuff being as she is... Bianca is not thrilled by this since she really wants date. Daddy dearest comes up with the idea that Bianca can date when Kat does.. and here comes New guy into the picture. New guy Cameron is hopelessly in love with Bianca so he comes up with the plan of getting someone to date Kat so he can date Bianca... tadada Bad boy (played by Heath) comes in...

Like i said this is a classic and any girl ought to watch.. i mean it.. there is just so many bright moments in this one and yes i enter rollercoaster land on this one to.. i rarely admit it but i am such a girly girl sometime.. like come on my favorite romantic movie is 6 days and 7 nights.. anywho.. this is a funny and sweet movie and i have been recommending it for years...

oh wow this is the third post today and i'm already watching a new one.. someone got bitten by the movie muncher bug

Alles wird gut (1998)

oh look my list is down to 666 movies and i haven't added any in this week.. i feel so proud... >.<

so alles wird gut or Everything will be fine as the translated title is not really a new movie for me.. i have seen it before but for some reason it has ended up on my wanna watch list again... so here we go

The movie is about the Afro-German slacker Nabou who recently got dumped by the club-kid Katja. Katja on the other hand is well over Nabou. However Nabou doesn't wanna accept this and in an attempt to win Katja back Nabou accidently gets a cleaning job at the neighbor Kim's place. Now Nabou starts her master plan at getting Katja back but along the way she gets to know Kim...

sadly i could find one with subtitles :(

what do i love about this movie.. well i love the humor.. it is a very fun movie that does play a bit on peoples ignorance.. also the main character has a well unique way of doing things every now and then...

also the soundtrack is quite good.. i am normally not one for love songs but hey sometimes they are quite fitting... and in this movie they fit very well.. and i just love hedonism by Skunk Anansie so much i'm gonna share :O

so i was going for the official video but blogger was playing along :S a shame really because the official video is quite special but you can always go on YouTube i guess

anywho Hedonism is the theme song of the movie and with good reason.. the movie is about getting over a broken heart.. moving on and realizing that even though it feels like you can not live without this person who just broke your heart it is doubtful that this person is right for you... and as most of us have learned by now (or maybe that is just me) sometimes you find love in the strangest places... and that is what this movie is about.. you know other than put a comical spin on racism that is bound in ignorance rather than hate...

When Harry tries to marry (2011)

so i'm back.. pff work is hard to get use to after being sick for 2 weeks... anywho.. movies
so 670 movies is on the list ( yeah i know a movie has sneaked in... however it is one who hasn't premiered in dk yet) ... so tired as i am and after feeling the torture of having to wait for a new castle episode i choose to go overboard in the romantics... lucky for me the first page of the list offers just such a thing :)

When Harry tries to marry is about Harry (duh!) an young Indian-american guy who has wished for an arranged marriage since he was a kid using statistics as an argument. therefor he calls a guy in India shortly before he is graduating to make le guy arrange a marriage for him. Le guy finds a girl Nita and now the wedding preparations starts... only Harry got a new american friend that turns out to complicate things... a lot!

as expected this was and overly sweet and quite predictable... and as the closeted romantic that i apparently am i just looooooved it... (oh dear i'm showing my girlishness) it is so sweet and yet hilarious so well.. (i kinda lost my wind here.. that darn YouTube with your videos and stuff)

bum bum bum... oh yeah if your are into have a fun night with a romantically movie to snuggle under the blanket to this is definitely a winner.. but at the same time.. i don't think a lot of guys would love this movie.. it is most certainly a chick flick... :P

think i got all burned out now.. oh well until next time :)

The Love Guru (2008)

so after deleting a movie from the list being anything else than what i thought I am down to 671... just saying that makes me think dang that is gonna take some time.. I really should stop filling movies in until i'm way longer down in numbers..

anywho (man i love that word) i decided to watch the love guru. and even though i normally can't stand Mike Myers i gave it a shot...

The Love Guru is about a guru Pitka who gets the assignment to bring a hockey player back with his wife because he can't play as long as they are broken up. He does so using a weird set of rules that kinda changes gameplan along the way. Pitka is certain that if he get this job done and land a interview on Oprah then he will be the greatest Love Guru of all and as a result get to love himself.

so like I said above i'm not really a fan of Mike Myers... actually it is so bad that I can't get myself to watch a movie with Heather Graham, whom I absolutely adore, just because he is in it.. anyway this movie had its moments. Yes I did giggle a bit but mainly I didn't find it all that funny which is what people had told me it was... plus side for me would be the adorable Jessica Alba.. she can just be so dang sweet in movies like this..

Also I kinda did like the whole story about the student teaches the teacher but it was kinda predictable... but then again most movies for laughs are :)

what i'm basically saying is I can't really judge this movie fairly just because i'm partial to not liking it just because of the staff.. and yes I did find it a bit cheesy at most points because it is not really my stile of humor (oh wow I guess I do have a stile) but I also see that this isn't really a bad movie.. I would just prefer never to watch it again :)

The Night Watch (2011)

The Night Watch is set during World War II (and the ending) following the lives and crossovers of 6 young people who all has in some way relations to one another.

so yeah that was an ultra short description i made there.. there's a reason for that.. The way this movie is built is unlike anything I've ever seen before.. i find that cool and well intriguing... to explain this movie without giving it away.. hmm it's actually quite tough... the absolute best way to describe it would be the first sentence of the movie:

"If you go to the cinema midway through a film, you watch the second half first don't you. So you see how the characters end up in the story. What happened to turn them into the people they became? It's like a riddle you have to solve "

this is what the movie is.. a riddle you have to solve.. i rather enjoy it.. but then again I've always loved riddles :)

the movie is in historical settings and it involves not just lesbians but homosexuality in general in a time where it was not yet quite acceptable but not unacceptable either.. and given it is based on a book by Sarah Waters yeah well it is kinda what you expect isn't it ;)

oh also.. i did something bad XD i went on youtube.. so instead of being down on 666 movies it is now up on 672 (wups) which is more than i started out with.. bugger! >.< I am just never gonna finish this

The Bounty Hunter (2010)

Okay so i started operation watch my wanna-watch list XD... thing is i'm sick at the moment and watching movies kinda kills the time between coughing and sleeping.. and my series are on break.. me suspects Superbowl though i don't see the reason (not the biggest sportsfan in case you were wondering)... so my current wanna-watch list is about 669 movies not that i have any clue why it keeps being so huge since i on average watch like a movie a day :S anywho.. project starts at the buttom of the list.. gotta start somewhere and in the middle seems kinda wrong XD

now to picking the movie.. off cause i have at some point thought oh wow that movie looks interesting i should watch that.. but ehm my mood shifts kinda often and so does my want of movies.. so sometimes i don't feel like watching a certain type of movie anymore even though it still looks interesting.. get my drift? anyway sitting on page 17 of my list i figured that i'm to sick and tired to watch a subtitled movie.. also documentries would not get the attention i believe them to deserve.. so half the page is already dead XD now the question is should it be comedy, action or sugarsweet romance.. given that this is written before the title of the post you are gonna know already what i choose.. but hey let a girl ramble right ;)

The Bounty Hunter (haha guess i went for everything) is about Milo Boyd a bounty hunter who gets hired to hunt down his ex-wife Nicole. Oh looks like trouble from here :P He off cause thinks it's gonna be a easy job (typical men?) but then she slips away and they end up running for their life. Oh boy oh boy can't wait to see this one (being sick might make me overly eager)

disappointed i was not.. the movie brought everything i needed in just that moment.. since i am sick i loved the fact that it was so simple and yet hilarious complicated. It did present all the classic boy and girl can't figure it out problems but hey it kinda does the trick :P and it was an extremely fun movie. Was it girly.. well yes but the small action-parts and the cracking jokes makes up for it.. this is definitely a movie you can watch in a mixed group or along with your boy/girlfriend.. it will make a fun evening out of it.. Anyway it is clear why it got so much attention back in 2010 when it came out in theaters

oh and i love Christine Baranski in it... don't know why but i just find her cool and funny (oh must be a good wife episode up soon) and tell you the line i remember the best from this movie is Christine Baranski as Nicole's mom saying this...

"oh and bring the phone i want a picture.. a tiny picture of his ass that's all i ask"

just priceless :P

All I Want For Christmas (1991)

So did you know that if you do a Keyword search on Christmas in IMDb you get (wait for it) 3198 Titles (in fairness only 1096 of these are full movies) to choose from? Well since I didn't really make a watch list for this advent calender (in retrospect that could have been a great idea) I'm doing this cool thing called browsing. Doing this browsing time I learned that apparently there is something about Christmas in The Godfather (1972). Now I haven't seen The Godfather (yikes) so I don't know if it is true... i have heard about the horses head but never did i Imagine that there was alittle Holiday spirit to be found... Anyway Godfathers aside I fell on this movie All I Want For Christmas from 1991 it sounded good and a bit more in the spirit than The Godfathers ;)

All I Want For Christmas is about these 2 kids, Hallie and Ethan. Their parents split up and this is the first Christmas after the split. Now little Hallie wishes for the parents to get back together. So she starts of a plan well helped by her big brother. Not that he wants to. Anyway the scheme is on... but what is a great plan without complications. Besides things going wrong and Ethan being in love there's the thing with Tony, the moms date interest.

okay so I'm a sucker for these sweet and funny flicks. The jokes is great, the kids are just so cute and their pranks hilarious. To tell the truth it took me about 5 minutes to realize I've seen this one before but it's so great I just let it play.. typing this in the meantime and looking at recipes (oh yeah I'm good at multitasking) still there was a lot of jokes I forgot or just didn't get the last time i saw it. So yeah this one is definitely on my favorite Christmas list ;)

19 days til the Duck is served (guess that's 20 for some of you) :)

New vs. Old: The Parent Trap

So just because I can I decided to take a look on some movie remakes, comparing them to the old one. (hit's in the title ha?)... so I'll be take 2 movies at a time, watching the original one first (the old) and then the remake (the new) and then start rambling here about the 2 of them.. telling which one i preferred (if I can)

So let the battle begin. Disney has been so kind to make a remake of one of their own movies. They started of by making The Parent Trap in 1961 (following up with a sequel in 1986 wup wup) and then about 37 years later Disney rounds up a cute little Lindsay Lohan for a remake of The Parent Trap in 1998.

The Parent Trap is about 2 girls meeting at summer camp. They look like one another (well they are twins) but instead of just clicking they starts doing pranks on one another. Finally they screw up big time and are punished to be in solitude with each other. In the end they starts talking, figuring out they are twins and decides to switch places so they can meet the parent they never met. Also in this plan is the fact that they at some point have to switch back again forcing the parents to meet again. But there are some complications to the plan...

So getting a trailer for The Parent Trap 1961 on YouTube is pretty much imposible so this is all i could come up with

So I was one of those who grew up with the second version of The Parent Trap, I did learn about the first one a while ago but never really got around to watching it. Now I have.. must say that beside the Language and clothes having changed over the years and a few scenes, they are actually pretty similar :) this also makes it kinda hard to say you should chose not to watch one of them.

The old one is great... especially if you are into older movies. The new one is more modern (naturally) and I actually know the actors and actresses in that one. ;) If i have to chose it would fall on the new one. The pranks are so much more imaginative in this one. Also I love the fact that it takes a lot longer for the twins to notice one another. And let's face it Lindsay Lohan with her beautiful red hair and blue eyes is just adorable :) And of cause giving that technology has gotten better over the years there's better effects in the new one like getting to see the landscape and stuff... making me like the movie a lot more.

Also I have befriended IMDb.com (geeky me) and learned that there is the original parent trap from 61, followed by the sequel in 86, a third in 89 and a little bonus in The Parent Trap: Hawaiian Honeymoon also in 89. Guess i have some work cut out for me trying to find those three.

uh and a really cool fact, the woman (Joanna Barnes) who plays the girlfriend in The Parent Trap from 61 is playing the girlfriends MOM in The Parent Trap from 98

Cracks (2009)

So this is another weird movie, but at the same time one of those you just simply can't take your eyes off. I mean as the movie got along i started hating some of the caracters and care and love others. Like really getting into the story. And the absolute best part is that at no point did i feel like it was getting to predictable on contrary i was hoping what was going to happen next wasn't really going to happen. (really really hoping) Which to me just makes a movie so much better.

So Cracks is about a bunch of girls in a british elite bording school in the 1930's. This particular bunch has a very special relationship with a young teacher and don't really socialize outside the group. In the beginning of the schoolyear the girls are told that they have to welcome a spanish girl into their group, not something the girls are rather fond of. However the spanish girl gets accepted, that is untill unwanted attention and jealousy gets into the scene.

So if you didn't catch it in the beginning, then i am gonna say it flat out now. I loved this movie. The quirkiness, the thrills and the cruelty of human beings is something that never ceases to amaze me. And this movie has plenty of it all. This is also thanks to the actresses that does the amazing job of protraying things we humans rarely want to admit exists in all of us.

This is however somewhat a chick flick. It is about the cruelty amongst girls (a thing i noticed very few boys know that much about) I do mean though that boys could enjoy this movie if they are into watching movies about human natures darker side.

Even Cowgirls get the Blues (1993)

So this movie is apparently based on a book. I didn't know that. Honestly I found this movie because IMDb told me Heather Graham was in it and I have made it somewhat my mission to watch all her movies (same goes for a few other actresses) Anyway Heather doesn't show much in this movie (quite disappointing) on the other hand we get to see a young Uma Thurman... that was, well different... actually not a bad thing.

However the movie isn't all that good.. bad is more the term. Something about a young girl with abnormal large thumps hitch hiking the country, being a model.. meeting cowgirls and i think joins their fight for uhm birds? :S I got lost somewhere around Uma kissing a girl and then moments later kissing a old Chinese-Indian guy...

As much as I love weird movies where you have to think things over a few times before it starts making sense, I most say I GOT REALLY REALLY LOST! That is never a good thing.. like ever. I get the humor in the beginning i even get the finding yourself wanting to be normal thing going on. But something must have gone wrong when turning this book (which i haven't read and it could therefor be just as weird and confusing even though i doubt that) into the movie.. like i just don't get the whole cowgirl fight thing.

I am not sure if I need to watch it again or if it is just a lost cause. As I don't know the book I can't even tell if you as someone who do will get disappointed or thrilled about this movie.. All I can say is that I didn't get the movie and found it weird and boring. With this note I hand the choice over to you... However.. if ANY guys reads this post.. RUN as fast as you can to find something manly to watch because I'm quite sure this is a feministic chick-flick

Love and Other Drugs (2010)

Love and Other Drugs is about Jamie, a notorious bachelor with a fascinating charm and gumption. Unfortunately this is also the reason he gets fired... A lot! After one of these firings Jamie's brother suggest a job as a salesman for the medical company Pfizer. Jamie takes the job and while trying to get the doctors to proscribe Zoloft instead of Prozac he meets the patient Maggie. Maggie is a young and free spirited artist suffering from Parkinson. Because of the disease Maggie doesn't want anyone to get close to her, so her and Jamie starts up an emotionless relationship. As you can guess this doesn't hold and sure enough Jamie falls in love with Maggie. This starts a tumble of fitting Maggie, the job and Parkinson's together.

So after watching the trailer I was sure that this would be one of those movies where you'll be rolling on the floor laughing. Then a friend of mine went to see it and told me afterwards that it wasn't so and that she actually found the movie bad. Giving this information I turned my expectations way way down before popping the movie on. This made this movie a good surprise when watching it as i really enjoyed it. However it is NOT a roll-on-the-floor-laughing movie as I originally thought and if my expectations hadn't been on low I would have been very disappointed. Expectations are a pain ha? :P

Anyway I found this movie real as it takes a hold on a taboo most people hardly even realizes exists and yet a lot of people are forced to deal with it everyday. The question about what you would do if you fell in love with someone who has Parkinson or some other incurable disease.
Honestly I would probably never see this movie again. However giving its theme I will recommend it as a onetime watch. It is a sweet movie and the main question of the movie is still roaming around in my head. Mostly because I myself have no idea what I would do given this specific choice.

On other notes. This movie reminds me a lot of Autumn in New York (2000) and Sweet November (2001) both movies I adore and recommend. So if you seen these and like them you will definitely like Love and Other Drugs and vise verse.
