so why Julie and Julia... well after watching a few action movies and not getting much done I figured that a movie about my subject would help.. thing is i'm in school at the moment and well the homework load is kinda high.. like way high.. like in i have even less social life than i do when i'm working... soo yeah well that would be why it has been a while since the last post.. anyway home work.. movies.. got a red string in this somewhere.. i hope..
Julie & Julia is about well Julie an almost 30 woman who feels stuck and uninspired at work and well only comfort she does have is cooking (i know that feeling)... then the thing happens.. the thing that puts everything in motion. One of Julies friends writes a horrible article and follows up with a blog.. Julie, who is in reality a writer who can't get published, is talking about that she could write a blog on her own... her boyfriend agrees and after a short assessment time they agree that Julie could write about cooking. Julie then decides that in order to actually stick to the blog she has to have a goal.. goal being going through all of the recipes in Julia Childs Cookbook. (which i'm kinda dying to get a hold of) in the course of one year.
so given this is on my shelf and i already clearly stated that i do not buy unless i like.. it would be fair to assume that this is one i love.. and i do..
as an aspiring cook myself (this would be the school part) i love pretty much everything about food.. much like Childs (or at least the portrait of her from the movie) i love the learning process the little tricks you get along the way and of recent even the designing of a plate (which i apparently have a small talent in) so the relations between both Julie and Julia is there for me.. and that it is a big big part of my love toward the movie
also i love the jump between Julie and Julia.. the thing is that both of them goes through a development throughout the movie.. Julie through her project and the small meltdowns along the way.. Julia through the process of first off getting allowed into the cooking courses in the first place (cooking like chefs were dominated by men...women was expected to stay home and look after their husbands and the itty bitty ones) and to starting the cookbook (which needed some reducing along the way) to actually being know and respected in the world of cooking.. and may i just add?... both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are wonderful in this movie.. i do adore and admire both of them to begin with but that does not make this movie anything less..
well let's just end this with the wises words ever to be said...
It is ALL about the Butter!
