D.E.B.S. (2004)

since it has been so long since my last post i decided to do one from the shelf..Yes i own this one.. gonna comment on this later on...

D.E.B.S. is a special school for girls learning about well spy stuff... how does the students get picked well... there is this secret test within the aptitude test (sry but have no clue what this test is about in the first place... we don't do them in small DK) anywho if you score well in the test within the test you get contacted... or well drafted might be the word. Anyway we are in this movie following a specific group of 4 D.E..B.S. where one of these is the posterchild for D.E.B.S as she is the perfect score... not that anyone knows exactly what this means... Amy (the posterchild) however is not really into the whole spy stuff and honestly she just wanna go to art school and i don't know be free... and then this evil mastermind shows up in the form of Lucy Diamond (played by Jordana Brewster ) who is really just showing up for a stupid blind date with a Russian assassin, a female russian assassin.... after a failed surveillance mission Lucy and Amy meet and well Lucy is back on the horse and Amy well she reluctantly follows...

This movie is honestly so bad it's good... i love this movie and i know it is very very very wrong.. but come on girls in miniskirts with guns and a super cute villain that isn't really bad... it's super sappy and sweet too.. and it actually have great humor which is probably why i have fallen for it... it is also the first movie i were i knew i was watching Jordana Brewster in... there was a time where i could brag of having watched all her movies but one.. still haven't been around that horror... anywho.... yeah she's my first moviecrush...
well there you have it... one from my shelf of fabulous movies... yeah..

Julie & Julia (2009)

uh lets take one from the shelf... i have been going through a small pet project of getting through my movieshelf.. can tell you that i'm near the first 50 movies... and i'm not even close to being halfway through.. ah it is good to be a moviemuncher...

so why Julie and Julia... well after watching a few action movies and not getting much done I figured that a movie about my subject would help.. thing is i'm in school at the moment and well the homework load is kinda high.. like way high.. like in i have even less social life than i do when i'm working... soo yeah well that would be why it has been a while since the last post.. anyway home work.. movies.. got a red string in this somewhere.. i hope..

Julie & Julia is about well Julie an almost 30 woman who feels stuck and uninspired at work and well only comfort she does have is cooking (i know that feeling)... then the thing happens.. the thing that puts everything in motion. One of Julies friends writes a horrible article and follows up with a blog.. Julie, who is in reality a writer who can't get published, is talking about that she could write a blog on her own... her boyfriend agrees and after a short assessment time they agree that Julie could write about cooking. Julie then decides that in order to actually stick to the blog she has to have a goal.. goal being going through all of the recipes in Julia Childs Cookbook. (which i'm kinda dying to get a hold of) in the course of one year.

so given this is on my shelf and i already clearly stated that i do not buy unless i like.. it would be fair to assume that this is one i love.. and i do..

as an aspiring cook myself (this would be the school part) i love pretty much everything about food.. much like Childs (or at least the portrait of her from the movie) i love the learning process the little tricks you get along the way and of recent even the designing of a plate (which i apparently have a small talent in) so the relations between both Julie and Julia is there for me.. and that it is a big big part of my love toward the movie

also i love the jump between Julie and Julia.. the thing is that both of them goes through a development throughout the movie.. Julie through her project and the small meltdowns along the way.. Julia through the process of first off getting allowed into the cooking courses in the first place (cooking like chefs were dominated by men...women was expected to stay home and look after their husbands and the itty bitty ones) and to starting the cookbook (which needed some reducing along the way) to actually being know and respected in the world of cooking.. and may i just add?... both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are wonderful in this movie.. i do adore and admire both of them to begin with but that does not make this movie anything less..

well let's just end this with the wises words ever to be said...
It is ALL about the Butter!

Frozen (2013)

FINALLY!

i was so looking forward to this one.. and for quite some time to... i even set up to watching it and my besties wasn't up for it since he wanted us to watch it together... so i waited.. last weekend (oh i know it's like i live on another planet these days) we got around to watching it and i was not even the slightest disappointed.. . might be the love i have for all them animations... anywho...

frozen is about 2 siblings a strained from each other after a small accident one night when they were kids... so they grow up pretty much alone all the time.. when the oldest sister Elsa comes of age she is crowned which require a small (like huge) party.. during the party the younger sister Anna falls for this guy and decides that marriage is a great idea... Elsa isn't really up for that idea and in a state of anger she lets her powers of ice show and well then the trouble kinda starts and Elsa runs away leaving everyone else confused and slightly scared of their new queen. Anna on the other hand just wants to get her sister back and that leaves her with only one choice... go get Elsa back... yeah that sounds like an awesome idea...

yeah i was one of those people who found the video with Olaf and Svend and shared it with basically everybody who let there guard down just for a minute... anywho Frozen... well i know enough stories to know that this is an interpretation of the Snow Queen. also i'm danish.. H. C. Anderson is kinda mandatory... but well pretty much all Disney movies is interpretations of fairy tales... I love those and i love this... i love this a lot actually. It is about sisterly love, it is about finding yourself and mostly it is about being free and accept who you really are instead of hiding..

and as a bigger sister i can recognize small things that are just things sisters do... and even more.. i think it really captures how siblings just love each other unconditional... well most siblings do though... and that is like the thing little girls all over the world is gonna see to... and lets face it this is a fairy tale for girls.. well most Disney's are by the way...

well now i'm just gonna go back to singing along to this wonderful movie that i'm gonna love owning in the nearest future :D

Despicable Me 2 (2013)

Gru is BACK!!!!

so yeah when i first heard of the coming of a second despicable me movie i had a lot of doubt... a lot!... i had a problem seeing how they were gonna pull it of.. giving the whole ending of the first one.. but then then the trailers started showing up...

so according to the trailer... Gru has become the loving father of the 3 kids Margo, Edith and Agnes... and then he gets kidnapped by the anti villain league and then he is gonna save the world... with evil minions?

so as the good movie watcher i am i of cause roamed around youtube finding this little baby

so yeah screwed up as i am i loooooove this evil minion.. and the video above has given room for a lot of laughter... like i don't have to watch it anymore to be laughing way to hard... so yeah i was looking forward to these little guys making fun all over the screen...

sooo i was in the movies with my friends and trust me the movie is hilarious... i was laughing like a mad man throughout the movie..

just to clarify... Gru has gone legit, making jellies and jams... or well trying to.. then he do get kidnapped by anti villain league in order to offer him a job saving the world... he ends up taking the job being assigned the crazy kidnapping lady as his partner. during all of this someone decides to kidnap all the cute minions making them into evil minions..

so the evil minions in the movie was not as funny as anticipated.. to be honest i was a little disappointed.. but giving i was laughing my way trough it i have to admit that i truly loved this one.. it is filled with jokes craziness and so on.. and Agnes is just the most adorable thing in the world.. and there was a great story within it.. more than what i recall from the first one..

Rango (2011)

So yeah this is not really the first time I watch Rango... not the second time either.. actually the first time was in cinema with Mini-Me... The thing is my sister had to buy a present for a friends birthday and she dragged me into a store selling movies.. it is a favorite store of ours but kinda expensive since they have so many great movies at cheap prices and you often end up with like 10 movies you feel like you can't live without..  Same goes for yesterday.. found 4 movies and a present I could not live without.. my sister did the same..  anywho one of these lucky movies that got to go home with little me was (can you guess it?) Rango! I of cause popped it in thinking i need a small fix of Johnny Depp and to a happy surprise of mine realized there are 2 versions... a theatrical and an extended... just had to see the long one no way around of that...

Rango is a Chameleon from the city.. his entire life he has been living in a cage believing himself to be undiscovered actor. He act around with his friends (the toys given to keep him company) but he is beginning to realize that his character, the hero, is missing conflict. With that said conflicts hit the dear Rango. He ends up all alone in the desert and gets the advise from a armadillo to go find water, but to find that he must first find dirt. Now all there is left is to sit back and watch how Rango finds his inner hero.

Clearly I love this Animation.. First off I only buy what I love to watch.. secondly I have watched it sooo many times.. It's a fun movie and Depp is so great in it (to be fair I haven't seen a movie yet where Depp wasn't great) Rango is such a great character and to see this awkward dude become the accidental hero is always a fun thing.

A thing I love about Rango is that, to me, it has managed to capture the essence of those old Westerns that surfaced after the war. It builds up like most of them did (haven't watched to many westerns but in some ways they are quite similar)... but also it brings more to the table.. because the wild west is kinda dead by now and it shows you how modernization changes the life of a lot of people without them realizing.. big changes often happen without the majority noticing and those who can't adapt get lost behind. In Rango changes are of the big evil because there is not that big a need as it is but when the change has happend nobody seems to mind though..

As for the extended version goes.. well there is a few extra scenes but to be honest I didn't really notice.. but it is properly me who wasn't all that observant... that tend to happen when you cook and chat at the same time as watching a movie.. but now I can watch it as often as I feel like.. Rango is safe and sound in my shelf... happy days to me ;)

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002)

I'm in need of Animations!!!! Sometimes I just get this need to find a nice animation preferably with some nice songs that we all love to sing along on. Disney often does the trick but since I have been watching them pretty much all my life (though it has been in danish) i figured that some of those nice DreamWorks that I love just as much should have a few nice words going their way.

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is a western story but unlike the many (MANY) movies of that particular genre this isn't a white mans tale. The story evolves around this beautiful wild stallion in America in the beginning of the colonization of America. The White are trying to tame the nature by capturing horses cutting down trees building railroads and killing the "savages". Yes the white man isn't all that good in this movie. You follow the stallion later known as Spirit as he fights for his freedom after being captured and brought to the army (bluecoats).

So this is a emotional roller-coaster for me. I mean first I'm laughing then i'm crying then laughing then crying.. really it goes on like that.. The songs are great though.. full of energy making you sing along in no time..  Bryan Adams for the win!
Really I love this "traditional" type of cartoons.. and the message in it is kinda great. That you shouldn't try and tame nature it brings you more joy if you don't also we don't have the right to. This though is a question of believes that i don't intend to go into because it's not really what i'm doing in this. But it is one that this movie rises whether or not it is intentional. It is of cause also a great tale of friendship and understanding.. and even a bit of pride thrown into the mixer...

anyway I hope this movie can bring you just as much joy (and other stuff) as it does me.. :)

Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008)

So a friend of mine popped this on one night and boy I have to say WOW!
Repo! The Genetic Opera is like this lost pearl that I never heard of. Which is a real shame because it is just that great. It's like an instant classic and it should be on any movie buff's watch-list.

So what exactly is Repo! The Genetic Opera? Well it's a really cool musical. Yiiks they're singing? Yeah a lot, but in a good way. The songs are really awesome and dark which I must admit I'm somewhat addicted to (welcome to the darkside...) guess it makes me in a good mood. weird hu?. Anyway evil singing aside. Repo! is about a future where you'd need surgery to survive.. also a lot of people seems addicted to these lifesaving surgeries. The base to the story is that when you get these surgeries you either pay a lot of money or end up in debt to the Geneco company. And if you don't pay your debt in time it's allowed to send the repossession man after you. Shorten down to the Repo man.

Back to the singing I might have mention this before but the soundtrack to this movie is just awesome. Like really catchy. Seriously after first watch (yeah I watched it a couple of times by now) I was humming the songs while at work... if you don't believe take a look at this song below ;-)

now go out and get this movie.. and get part of the cult world...
