Stoneshearst Asylum (2014)

This is a fine example of me hating the trailer and yet being intrigued enough to watch it anyway... trust me when i say i'm glad i did.

Stonehearst Asylum is about okay okay Stonehearst Asylum. Or well its about a young medical school grad who comes to Stonehearst to gain some experience in the workings of asylems. Soon upon arriving though he for starters is taken by one of the patients whom he does not believe to insane and well given the movie takes place in a time where a man in a dress in considered insane and one of the cures for insanity is being hosed down with cold water fair change is she isn't. Anyway... he also seem to realize that something isn't as it should be and after a little trip to the basement well lets just say he's not entirely wrong...

now i do put trailers on but... if the text above does intrigue you please please please do not watch it... it will ruin so much for you... you be much better of getting the surprises within the movie,...

truely hate that trailer.. sadly it seem to be a thing in trailers these days to reveal pretty much the entire movie..... sometimes the trailers even seem better than the bloody movie... anyway the  movie the movie the movie

given that i did see the trailer beforehand and that i seem to have a slight ability to remember almost every piece of information i come in contact with i did know the major plot twist before even starting the movie.. which just plain sucked... this movie has so much potential, so much thought and ways of making you think about things and then a stupid trailer wrecked it.. how is this even remotely fair? I mean here we have a movie right up my alley with the whole human psyche as the center of the story and i bloody loved it.. i just hated the fact that i wasn't surprised by half the movie like i should have been... i did get a few surprises though don't worry but still..

anywho... this is actually a good movie and i think it might even be a more than once kind.. and if you did stay clear of the trailer i do recommend it more than a lot.. sadly for this movie the thing i find wrong with it is the trailer :(

Cleopatra 2525 (2000-2001)

so i have done a lot in the series department of late... well i have been doing a lot of movies to
actually.. actually i might need a life.. or well a different kind... or well maybe not... anywho..

Cleopatra 2525 was the choice on the wanna-watch and well it is a brief memory of watching some of it on telly as a teenager... so i figured it could be fun if not entertaining... well lets start of with the intro because it seems that other than being really bad and good for a laugh (i might have a weird humor though) it is also extremely informative... so minus the singing it would actually be an awesome trailer for the show....

so we have 3 women fighting for the survival of earth with the help of The Voice.. a voice telling then what to do without them knowing who she is... kinda like Charlie's Angels.. and they fight the robots that have taken over earth a bit like you know Matrix... and then we add.... oh yeah.. a lot of sexappeal.. and the clearly lack of having to make sense which i just blame on the 2000's.... like why would they shoot like that? not that i'm complaining just why....

anyway.. lovely reunion with the past.. story is decent though short.. it does end end in final episode like if they knew they were to be cancelled... so there.. me counting down on them wanna watch lists...

Being Erica (2009 - 2011)

Erica Strange's life sucks big time.. i mean she is 30 and just got fired from telemarketing for being to smart... oh and to top it all of her boyfriend is sorta breaking up with her over the phone in the middle of the rain... wauw.. Erica, sad and wet, seeks refuge in a cafe that offers her a free latte.. yeah... downside is Erica is allergic to nuts so a hazelnut mocha latte is usually a bad idea...

So all and all a pretty bad day... Waking up in the hospital she meets Dr. Tom, a Therapist. Erica is convinced she do not need a therapist... well until a little family get together gets a little much and Erica decides to escape through the window in her pajamas.. oh yes... and then we realize that Dr. Tom is not an ordinary therapist.. no he is a time traveling kinda therapist helping Erica to settle old scores with her regrets in life..

and all that it takes is to see the therapy to the end...

so i got recommendation for this one somewhere.. not sure where... doesn't matter either.. anywho... going into this i thought it was just a girly thing about a 30 something doing a kinda diary stile thing
... let's just say i got a bit of a surprise... i loved it though especially the concept of going back not to necessarily chance the past but to come to better terms with the regrets we all have.. like i wish i did this or i wish i didn't do that.. and learning on the way that the choices we make chances who we are.. it makes us and without these choices we would be some one else completely..

so conclusion is; this is a really awesome show and it is sad that it ended in 2011... could have done with just one more season but hey that's life right... it is still a pretty girly series though, but different... in a very good way.. ;)

The Book of Life (2014)

I have really looked forward to watching this one ever since i watched the trailer for it.. so in a weekend embraced by friends i finally got around to putting it on..

The Book of Life holds the stories of every person to have ever lived on this earth. One of these stories is about 3 friends; a girl and the 2 boys courting her. So on one night of the dead, La Muerte and Xibalba kinda makes a bet on which boy is gonna get the girl.,, La Muerte chooses Manolo, the boy who makes music from the heart and Xibalba chooses Joaquin, the boy who always fight for what is right.. After a small pig incident Maria however is sent away to become a proper lady (why is it this happens so much in movies). The fight between Manolo and Joaquin continues through the years and when Maria returns home the game is getting tougher... ending in Xibalba cheating a bit... so now the question is who will marry Maria and who is gonna rule the world of the remembered?

i dont really know why but the day of the dead has always intrigued me.. something about celebrating your dead loved ones instead of crying for them.. and the little i do know about the day of the dead is that it is a celebration in remembrance of those you love. anywho the movie.. I love that they chose to build the movie as a story told.. meaning you have these kids that are listening to a female guide telling them a story about a love triangle... and as a nice touch all the characters look like these little wood figurines that the guide are showing the kids.. to me that is a very nice detail. I also love that they have kept the drawing style in what i would know as Mexican culture (don't know if Mexicans would agree...) but generally the animations is complete and wonderful to watch...

so with all this good said this movie must be perfect.. well sadly no... the animation is wonderful but they choose to totally sellout on the music.. using different love songs at cued moments.. thing is it just doesn't fit right.. if they had made music fitting the story with a Mexican style to it this movie would have earned top marks and in my book even a cult status.. this is how well carried out the animation and story is.. to bad they didn't give it all and gave it the proper music that it truly deserved...

anywho i do recommend it because even with the dreadful choice in music it is an above average movie...

200 mph (2011)

well i needed a break from the girly world.. i might love the chick flicks but it can get to much after a while.. just like pretty much anything else.. anyway got myself lost on the wanna watch list.. seriously how did it get so long? anywho started at the alphabetically top and went from there and well chose 200mph.. figured i could use some speed...

so 200 mph is about Rick a young man who lost his brother in a car accident during a street race. Following the aftermath Rick tries to settle the dept by racing the same guy his brother raced... so he team up with his friends to get his car up to the challenge in the course of a month. during this month though things starts to happen fast around Rick all to intimidate him... so well you get the picture right?

yeah that takes one of my list.. that would be progress just alittle over a thousand to go.. bloody h... anyway.. the movie the movie... the movie isn't bad it's not great either but still not bad.. it is predictable and well has a little to much odds for my liking.. and to be honest the climax of the movie truly sucked.. like big time.. it was not what i expected but it was not a good alternative so.. well.. but hey i got a few laughs and there were some cool cars.. but really wanna have speed and cool cars go find fast and furious.. it will give you a better treat....

13 going on 30 (2004)

oh how school gets you out of the loop... or well just out of everybody's loop.... must say that movies has rolled over the screen way quickly but with not much memory of them.. does not really matter cause its been mostly my movie shelf that's been on the menu so not only can i watch them all again at some point when desired but also has they been watch a lot already... you know if you like it you buy it and that are the words i live by.. so yeah i love my movies ;)

anywho...13 going on 30... well think this is the girly version of Big with Tom Hanks.. and by that i mean we have our average unpopular teenage girl holding her 13th birthday and after a little thing with mean girls at her party she wishes very deeply to be 30.. and boom we have a 13 year old Jenna waking up in a 30 year old body.. not only that it is more like skipping time so body have lived 17 years with all the weird mistakes and choices that comes with that.. 13 year old Jenna however does not remember anything... making a really awkward morning with a naked man in the apartment and running around town in her negligee. And now to the fun part... finding out what she really wanted so she can go back to being well 13.

overly predictable sappy sweetness check, way to cute Jennifer Garner playing a 13 year old.. check... me totally embracing my girly side.. well double ehm maybe triple check that....

dont think there is that much else to say.. okay i admit it i'm terrible at reviewing chick flicks.. might be because im not that willing to admit that i love watching them buggers.. :) and the thing with chick flicks is they have to be predictable.. it has to be sappy and so sweet you almost gag.. why... well i think it might be a girly need for something romantic that we all know doesn't really exists in the real world.. it is a place to get lost in dreams....

Julie & Julia (2009)

uh lets take one from the shelf... i have been going through a small pet project of getting through my movieshelf.. can tell you that i'm near the first 50 movies... and i'm not even close to being halfway through.. ah it is good to be a moviemuncher...

so why Julie and Julia... well after watching a few action movies and not getting much done I figured that a movie about my subject would help.. thing is i'm in school at the moment and well the homework load is kinda high.. like way high.. like in i have even less social life than i do when i'm working... soo yeah well that would be why it has been a while since the last post.. anyway home work.. movies.. got a red string in this somewhere.. i hope..

Julie & Julia is about well Julie an almost 30 woman who feels stuck and uninspired at work and well only comfort she does have is cooking (i know that feeling)... then the thing happens.. the thing that puts everything in motion. One of Julies friends writes a horrible article and follows up with a blog.. Julie, who is in reality a writer who can't get published, is talking about that she could write a blog on her own... her boyfriend agrees and after a short assessment time they agree that Julie could write about cooking. Julie then decides that in order to actually stick to the blog she has to have a goal.. goal being going through all of the recipes in Julia Childs Cookbook. (which i'm kinda dying to get a hold of) in the course of one year.

so given this is on my shelf and i already clearly stated that i do not buy unless i like.. it would be fair to assume that this is one i love.. and i do..

as an aspiring cook myself (this would be the school part) i love pretty much everything about food.. much like Childs (or at least the portrait of her from the movie) i love the learning process the little tricks you get along the way and of recent even the designing of a plate (which i apparently have a small talent in) so the relations between both Julie and Julia is there for me.. and that it is a big big part of my love toward the movie

also i love the jump between Julie and Julia.. the thing is that both of them goes through a development throughout the movie.. Julie through her project and the small meltdowns along the way.. Julia through the process of first off getting allowed into the cooking courses in the first place (cooking like chefs were dominated by men...women was expected to stay home and look after their husbands and the itty bitty ones) and to starting the cookbook (which needed some reducing along the way) to actually being know and respected in the world of cooking.. and may i just add?... both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are wonderful in this movie.. i do adore and admire both of them to begin with but that does not make this movie anything less..

well let's just end this with the wises words ever to be said...
It is ALL about the Butter!
