The Scooby-Doo Show (1976-1978)

On Thursday I had to throw in the towel and call it sick... thing about me being sick is i get really pathetic, like man flu pathetic... so in a way to lift my mood a bit I went full nostalgia and combined it with a small flair of Halloween spirit and ended up on Scooby Doo... but i have watched the original series to often so i figured i would go for the next in line of the series.

so just to sum up... Scooby Doo is about a mystery solving gang consisting of Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and of cause a talking dog Scooby Doo. (because that is all logical and stuff). Anywho... they travel around in the mystery van (greatly inspired in the 60's flower power) and seem to just fall upon mystery after mystery. oh here's the intro for ya..

So it turns out that the Scooby-Doo Show is the one they have shown most on danish TV as I recognized  quite a lot of the episodes... not minding the revisit though I generally just love Scooby Doo, well as long as they don't make him sing anyway,, actually it is bit of a mystery why i have not posted about the Mystery gang already because i do get flips every now and then and at this point i have watched almost every movie made... luckily for me they keep making them so i don't seem to run out just yet.

So since this is a fundamentally part of who i am of cause i recommend it... but i guess it is not for every ones taste... i always loved it and always will.. it is part of my love for learning things and i guess it does teach a lesson about people being the monsters... as a newbie to Scooby i don't know where it would be best to start.. i love these old ones sure but i really like the newer ones to... so well.. i dunno.. start where you want i guess.. they usely don't have a need for following a story line except in the mystery inc series.. which i have not finished yet XD

Robots (2005)

i am sooo bad at watching movies lately.. been munching series though... anywho its sunday and i actually felt like a a movie today... and Netflix was kind to suggest this fine one...

Robots is about a young robot boy, Rodney, who has grown up poor but dreams big. As a kid he listened to the greatest bot in the world Bigweld. Bigweld fed Rodney the wish to invent by saying that no matter the parts you can still shine. So after finding a need and tinkering around and a little advice to follow his dream, he travels to robot city to show his invention top Big Bot. But the road is long and it is not without trouble.

I actually went to the movies to watch this back when it came out. I did love it but somehow i never seen it again nor heard much about it in general. The movie is in short about a youngster from "the country" going into the big city and meeting all sorts of robots who either help him or try to stop him in making his dream. I love the humor in this one. It is sweet and refreshing and just makes you wanna follow your dreams.

oh and you will totally get the feels as Robin Williams is voicing in this one.

so there you have it a very under-appreciated cartoon for this Sunday :) enjoy

United States of Tara (2009 - 2011)

United States of Tara is about Tara and her family.. and well the other sides of Tara. Tara has multiple personality disorder and along with her family she has decided to drop her meds as they make her drowsy and basically not herself. This of cause means that the personalities show up every now and then... so lets meet T, Alice and Buck. Tara's main sharers. T is a 16 year old horny teenager which only Tara's teenage girl find kinda fun as she can go shopping with her. Alice is a 30's housewife who is going for being perfect. And Buck well Buck likes to kick ass when Tara wont do it herself. All the personalities has a purpose, a way of protecting Tara. But family life isn't all that easy when half the time you can't remember what you have done or been saying.

I Love Toni Collette for making this. First of like wow the talent. Its one thing to play one character
on a show but to play four right of the start is nothing short of amazing. Anyway the show is funny and enlightening. It takes a fun spin on a psychological disorder an topic that tend to be taboo. All while showing a lot of other subjects that all in all makes a family.

So if you want a fun easy-going show with a pretty good and deserving topic this is one that truly deserve a look. It has a good flow and let you get a glimpse of what this disorder can do to a family.

enjoy :)

The Road to El Dorado (2000)

Over the years my bestie managed to teach me that Sundays are best spend watching animations... and well i do like my cartoons... and although i have been at work today or more because of it im in a brilliant mood for cartoons... but being a little tired i choose to go with one of my favorites...

The road to El Dorado is about 2 swindlers Miguel and Tulio who after an unfortunately ending of a street gamble - mainly going wrong because Miguel must have the map showing the way to El Dorado -  they end up on a ship bound to the new world (south america if i know my history correctly) The ships captain is not to thrilled by unwanted passengers on his ship wants to throw them of on cuba to work as slaves... Miguel and Tulio not to happy about the idea finds a way to escape and then the journey to find El Dorado..

so like i said an old time favorite of mine... i think i might at some point have watched it in English but this is one of the few animations i almost always watch in Danish just because the songs is sung by a danish artist called Bamse (danish word for teddybear just in case you were wondering) and well his music to El Dorado is as epic as Elton John is for The Lion King or Phil Collins to Tarzan... so yeah that is the reason why i always watch this one in Danish... also it actually have great humor in danish to meaning it was pretty well translated.. this is sadly not the case in the more modern animations...

anywho enjoy your Sunday everyone ;)

a new found love...

so in a moment of weakness i managed  to sign up on Netflix a thing i have wanted to do for a while but well had not really made happen.. .so this week i did it... and apart from not having all season on some things i must admit i'm slightly in love.... i mean it is soooo easy and even better... it has my bloody documentaries and stuff that i have been forced to limit to visits at my parents (yep i'm the bomb when i visits sitting in front of the telly watching docus...)

however i am now starting to realize that there is not enough hours in the day... like the days just keeps disappearing and i really don't feel like i been watching that much telly... i managed to do other stuff to and all.. just not enough.. oh well guess it is a time thief that movie munching deal..

D.E.B.S. (2004)

since it has been so long since my last post i decided to do one from the shelf..Yes i own this one.. gonna comment on this later on...

D.E.B.S. is a special school for girls learning about well spy stuff... how does the students get picked well... there is this secret test within the aptitude test (sry but have no clue what this test is about in the first place... we don't do them in small DK) anywho if you score well in the test within the test you get contacted... or well drafted might be the word. Anyway we are in this movie following a specific group of 4 D.E..B.S. where one of these is the posterchild for D.E.B.S as she is the perfect score... not that anyone knows exactly what this means... Amy (the posterchild) however is not really into the whole spy stuff and honestly she just wanna go to art school and i don't know be free... and then this evil mastermind shows up in the form of Lucy Diamond (played by Jordana Brewster ) who is really just showing up for a stupid blind date with a Russian assassin, a female russian assassin.... after a failed surveillance mission Lucy and Amy meet and well Lucy is back on the horse and Amy well she reluctantly follows...

This movie is honestly so bad it's good... i love this movie and i know it is very very very wrong.. but come on girls in miniskirts with guns and a super cute villain that isn't really bad... it's super sappy and sweet too.. and it actually have great humor which is probably why i have fallen for it... it is also the first movie i were i knew i was watching Jordana Brewster in... there was a time where i could brag of having watched all her movies but one.. still haven't been around that horror... anywho.... yeah she's my first moviecrush...
well there you have it... one from my shelf of fabulous movies... yeah..

a 100 posts

I don't even know how to do this... 100 post on 4 years is not really that much but on the other hand it seems kinda big to me...

so about 5 years ago i was trying to prove my dad wrong when he said that i watch way to much telly...in this quest i started typing down everything i saw making a list... to be honest my dad was right..

but i'm not sorry. I enjoy watching movies and i learn from them... sometimes anyway... but the beauty of movies and series is that entertaining isn't necessarily about learning just about the enjoyment and whatever feelings the stuff is supposed to make you feel. And with my very vivid imagination i wish to share this joy with others... so in a brief moment of lets call it insanity i figured;

hey why not do what like a million others do and write about it.. you know make reviews of the stuff i watch and in the process keep my written English somewhat in shape...

so i admit starting this was somewhat an selfish act.. to be honest i feel it still is.. sorry people but i do not write for you.. i don't write to get likes, to be popular or to get the most views..

I write because i find it fun, cause i like it and writing every now and then with no pressure is a nice way for me to not feel like i'm just wasting my time.. it learned me to put words on my feelings toward something i have watched and processed... sometimes the process of a post is short other times it is long... sometimes it's even just random thoughts ramming into my head and needing to escape (use your words dang it) and to me it have been just what i needed...

i do have friends reading this blog.. most of them tend to say i bring myself in every post... makes me happy to think they can see me in the things i write.. it is a skill that is nice to have though i have no clue how i get it there... would be nice to know.. clearly it would be useful...

anyway i forgot what i really wanted to do with this post.. great absolutely awesome... maybe i should stick to this and leave it...

hope those of you who read this blog enjoy it, have your laughs and will return for more when it shows up...

Home Sweet Hell (2015)

oh the summer has finally showed up.. and i have the day off so in the best danish summer style... it is raining... so i figured to go nuts in movie lands.. mainly because i just bought a new game i'm currently downloading so streaming cold case was out of the question... anywho movie...

so what i gathered from the trailer we have Don, a salesman very much under his wife's thumb. anyway he somehow ends up with a beautiful salesgirl on the floor (lets just say it as it is he hires the girl) and then for some reason she is just all over him and well lets just go with 2 times a year scheduled sex is not good for any relationship. The fun then starts when wifey finds out that Don has been fooling around (i love how polite that can sound) with salesgirl.. and the only solution to this problem is?... yes we have to kill the girl... because that is what any sound person would suggest.. yessir... erhem.. cue trailer anyone..

honestly i was kinda torn at first with the trailer... here we have sweet Katherine Heigl being well anything but sweet and the way the story if the movie seems to go according to the trailer there would be a lot of places it could go horribly wrong... so where was the turner? well this might not be a proud moment but well it seems to turn out fine so here goes.. i have had the hugest movie crush on Jordana Brewster for as long as i can recall... she is properly the place my movie crushes started.... meaning at a point of time i had actually literally watched every movie but one that she has been a part of... i am how ever falling behind as she has been moving in genres i don't watch all that much and therefor have not been adding to my wanna watch lists...  anywho... she showed up in the trailer and i went from hm i don't know... - straight to --> I NEED TO WATCH THIS!!!!!

ehm yeah not proud not proud at all....

so i watched... and you know what? i'm glad i did... there was some blah moments in the movie but in general it was quite interesting... it had humor but i don't think i would go all the way to comedy.. but hey that's how it goes... i can say one thing.. who knew Katherine could be so creepy.. like whaaa she just hit a 100 on creepy on a scale from 1 to 10... taking my hat of here... that was amazing... if for no other reasons you should watch this movie just to see that..

other than that it is just a straight forward story of a man getting set up blackmail and intangled in a rather insane logic of his wife when he tries to fix things a bit (really sometimes you just cant fix things) and then well you just have to see the movie to know the last part... Enjoy ;)

Stoneshearst Asylum (2014)

This is a fine example of me hating the trailer and yet being intrigued enough to watch it anyway... trust me when i say i'm glad i did.

Stonehearst Asylum is about okay okay Stonehearst Asylum. Or well its about a young medical school grad who comes to Stonehearst to gain some experience in the workings of asylems. Soon upon arriving though he for starters is taken by one of the patients whom he does not believe to insane and well given the movie takes place in a time where a man in a dress in considered insane and one of the cures for insanity is being hosed down with cold water fair change is she isn't. Anyway... he also seem to realize that something isn't as it should be and after a little trip to the basement well lets just say he's not entirely wrong...

now i do put trailers on but... if the text above does intrigue you please please please do not watch it... it will ruin so much for you... you be much better of getting the surprises within the movie,...

truely hate that trailer.. sadly it seem to be a thing in trailers these days to reveal pretty much the entire movie..... sometimes the trailers even seem better than the bloody movie... anyway the  movie the movie the movie

given that i did see the trailer beforehand and that i seem to have a slight ability to remember almost every piece of information i come in contact with i did know the major plot twist before even starting the movie.. which just plain sucked... this movie has so much potential, so much thought and ways of making you think about things and then a stupid trailer wrecked it.. how is this even remotely fair? I mean here we have a movie right up my alley with the whole human psyche as the center of the story and i bloody loved it.. i just hated the fact that i wasn't surprised by half the movie like i should have been... i did get a few surprises though don't worry but still..

anywho... this is actually a good movie and i think it might even be a more than once kind.. and if you did stay clear of the trailer i do recommend it more than a lot.. sadly for this movie the thing i find wrong with it is the trailer :(

Cleopatra 2525 (2000-2001)

so i have done a lot in the series department of late... well i have been doing a lot of movies to
actually.. actually i might need a life.. or well a different kind... or well maybe not... anywho..

Cleopatra 2525 was the choice on the wanna-watch and well it is a brief memory of watching some of it on telly as a teenager... so i figured it could be fun if not entertaining... well lets start of with the intro because it seems that other than being really bad and good for a laugh (i might have a weird humor though) it is also extremely informative... so minus the singing it would actually be an awesome trailer for the show....

so we have 3 women fighting for the survival of earth with the help of The Voice.. a voice telling then what to do without them knowing who she is... kinda like Charlie's Angels.. and they fight the robots that have taken over earth a bit like you know Matrix... and then we add.... oh yeah.. a lot of sexappeal.. and the clearly lack of having to make sense which i just blame on the 2000's.... like why would they shoot like that? not that i'm complaining just why....

anyway.. lovely reunion with the past.. story is decent though short.. it does end end in final episode like if they knew they were to be cancelled... so there.. me counting down on them wanna watch lists...

Being Erica (2009 - 2011)

Erica Strange's life sucks big time.. i mean she is 30 and just got fired from telemarketing for being to smart... oh and to top it all of her boyfriend is sorta breaking up with her over the phone in the middle of the rain... wauw.. Erica, sad and wet, seeks refuge in a cafe that offers her a free latte.. yeah... downside is Erica is allergic to nuts so a hazelnut mocha latte is usually a bad idea...

So all and all a pretty bad day... Waking up in the hospital she meets Dr. Tom, a Therapist. Erica is convinced she do not need a therapist... well until a little family get together gets a little much and Erica decides to escape through the window in her pajamas.. oh yes... and then we realize that Dr. Tom is not an ordinary therapist.. no he is a time traveling kinda therapist helping Erica to settle old scores with her regrets in life..

and all that it takes is to see the therapy to the end...

so i got recommendation for this one somewhere.. not sure where... doesn't matter either.. anywho... going into this i thought it was just a girly thing about a 30 something doing a kinda diary stile thing
... let's just say i got a bit of a surprise... i loved it though especially the concept of going back not to necessarily chance the past but to come to better terms with the regrets we all have.. like i wish i did this or i wish i didn't do that.. and learning on the way that the choices we make chances who we are.. it makes us and without these choices we would be some one else completely..

so conclusion is; this is a really awesome show and it is sad that it ended in 2011... could have done with just one more season but hey that's life right... it is still a pretty girly series though, but different... in a very good way.. ;)

The Book of Life (2014)

I have really looked forward to watching this one ever since i watched the trailer for it.. so in a weekend embraced by friends i finally got around to putting it on..

The Book of Life holds the stories of every person to have ever lived on this earth. One of these stories is about 3 friends; a girl and the 2 boys courting her. So on one night of the dead, La Muerte and Xibalba kinda makes a bet on which boy is gonna get the girl.,, La Muerte chooses Manolo, the boy who makes music from the heart and Xibalba chooses Joaquin, the boy who always fight for what is right.. After a small pig incident Maria however is sent away to become a proper lady (why is it this happens so much in movies). The fight between Manolo and Joaquin continues through the years and when Maria returns home the game is getting tougher... ending in Xibalba cheating a bit... so now the question is who will marry Maria and who is gonna rule the world of the remembered?

i dont really know why but the day of the dead has always intrigued me.. something about celebrating your dead loved ones instead of crying for them.. and the little i do know about the day of the dead is that it is a celebration in remembrance of those you love. anywho the movie.. I love that they chose to build the movie as a story told.. meaning you have these kids that are listening to a female guide telling them a story about a love triangle... and as a nice touch all the characters look like these little wood figurines that the guide are showing the kids.. to me that is a very nice detail. I also love that they have kept the drawing style in what i would know as Mexican culture (don't know if Mexicans would agree...) but generally the animations is complete and wonderful to watch...

so with all this good said this movie must be perfect.. well sadly no... the animation is wonderful but they choose to totally sellout on the music.. using different love songs at cued moments.. thing is it just doesn't fit right.. if they had made music fitting the story with a Mexican style to it this movie would have earned top marks and in my book even a cult status.. this is how well carried out the animation and story is.. to bad they didn't give it all and gave it the proper music that it truly deserved...

anywho i do recommend it because even with the dreadful choice in music it is an above average movie...

200 mph (2011)

well i needed a break from the girly world.. i might love the chick flicks but it can get to much after a while.. just like pretty much anything else.. anyway got myself lost on the wanna watch list.. seriously how did it get so long? anywho started at the alphabetically top and went from there and well chose 200mph.. figured i could use some speed...

so 200 mph is about Rick a young man who lost his brother in a car accident during a street race. Following the aftermath Rick tries to settle the dept by racing the same guy his brother raced... so he team up with his friends to get his car up to the challenge in the course of a month. during this month though things starts to happen fast around Rick all to intimidate him... so well you get the picture right?

yeah that takes one of my list.. that would be progress just alittle over a thousand to go.. bloody h... anyway.. the movie the movie... the movie isn't bad it's not great either but still not bad.. it is predictable and well has a little to much odds for my liking.. and to be honest the climax of the movie truly sucked.. like big time.. it was not what i expected but it was not a good alternative so.. well.. but hey i got a few laughs and there were some cool cars.. but really wanna have speed and cool cars go find fast and furious.. it will give you a better treat....

13 going on 30 (2004)

oh how school gets you out of the loop... or well just out of everybody's loop.... must say that movies has rolled over the screen way quickly but with not much memory of them.. does not really matter cause its been mostly my movie shelf that's been on the menu so not only can i watch them all again at some point when desired but also has they been watch a lot already... you know if you like it you buy it and that are the words i live by.. so yeah i love my movies ;)

anywho...13 going on 30... well think this is the girly version of Big with Tom Hanks.. and by that i mean we have our average unpopular teenage girl holding her 13th birthday and after a little thing with mean girls at her party she wishes very deeply to be 30.. and boom we have a 13 year old Jenna waking up in a 30 year old body.. not only that it is more like skipping time so body have lived 17 years with all the weird mistakes and choices that comes with that.. 13 year old Jenna however does not remember anything... making a really awkward morning with a naked man in the apartment and running around town in her negligee. And now to the fun part... finding out what she really wanted so she can go back to being well 13.

overly predictable sappy sweetness check, way to cute Jennifer Garner playing a 13 year old.. check... me totally embracing my girly side.. well double ehm maybe triple check that....

dont think there is that much else to say.. okay i admit it i'm terrible at reviewing chick flicks.. might be because im not that willing to admit that i love watching them buggers.. :) and the thing with chick flicks is they have to be predictable.. it has to be sappy and so sweet you almost gag.. why... well i think it might be a girly need for something romantic that we all know doesn't really exists in the real world.. it is a place to get lost in dreams....

Julie & Julia (2009)

uh lets take one from the shelf... i have been going through a small pet project of getting through my movieshelf.. can tell you that i'm near the first 50 movies... and i'm not even close to being halfway through.. ah it is good to be a moviemuncher...

so why Julie and Julia... well after watching a few action movies and not getting much done I figured that a movie about my subject would help.. thing is i'm in school at the moment and well the homework load is kinda high.. like way high.. like in i have even less social life than i do when i'm working... soo yeah well that would be why it has been a while since the last post.. anyway home work.. movies.. got a red string in this somewhere.. i hope..

Julie & Julia is about well Julie an almost 30 woman who feels stuck and uninspired at work and well only comfort she does have is cooking (i know that feeling)... then the thing happens.. the thing that puts everything in motion. One of Julies friends writes a horrible article and follows up with a blog.. Julie, who is in reality a writer who can't get published, is talking about that she could write a blog on her own... her boyfriend agrees and after a short assessment time they agree that Julie could write about cooking. Julie then decides that in order to actually stick to the blog she has to have a goal.. goal being going through all of the recipes in Julia Childs Cookbook. (which i'm kinda dying to get a hold of) in the course of one year.

so given this is on my shelf and i already clearly stated that i do not buy unless i like.. it would be fair to assume that this is one i love.. and i do..

as an aspiring cook myself (this would be the school part) i love pretty much everything about food.. much like Childs (or at least the portrait of her from the movie) i love the learning process the little tricks you get along the way and of recent even the designing of a plate (which i apparently have a small talent in) so the relations between both Julie and Julia is there for me.. and that it is a big big part of my love toward the movie

also i love the jump between Julie and Julia.. the thing is that both of them goes through a development throughout the movie.. Julie through her project and the small meltdowns along the way.. Julia through the process of first off getting allowed into the cooking courses in the first place (cooking like chefs were dominated by men...women was expected to stay home and look after their husbands and the itty bitty ones) and to starting the cookbook (which needed some reducing along the way) to actually being know and respected in the world of cooking.. and may i just add?... both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are wonderful in this movie.. i do adore and admire both of them to begin with but that does not make this movie anything less..

well let's just end this with the wises words ever to be said...
It is ALL about the Butter!

Happy New Year

well thought it be about time to wish ppl happy new year.. its only the 9th.. no hurries... so what did the old year bring.. well this past year has been all about series, work and making new friends... there has for some reason not been the same amount of movies as previously but then again no worries.. i haven't been bored..

so what to expect of 2015.... well what not to expect... just started school and since my final (like final final) exam is approaching way to fast so school will be taking first place for a while... not really a problem although the whole deal of "drag me out back and shoot me with the beanbag gun" is getting to me.. i truly hate being sick.. and the whole common cold thing is so not my cup of tea.. only plus side to it... lots and lots of animations.. the absolute go to when i'm sick (or sad or bored or.. well animations are always my go to) now if i could just focus on that studies of meat...
